Staying Busy, Giving Back, and Celebrating Our Queen

Life is full of joy and connection here at The Green House® Cottages of Southern Hills in Rison, Arkansas. Our elders have been keeping busy with a variety of fun and relaxing activities, from crafts, Bingo, manicures, and movie time to enjoying the fresh air and playing a few rounds of Go Fish. There’s never a dull moment at the Cottages, and we love seeing our residents engaged, smiling, and making memories together.

We also had the honor of giving back to our community, and we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Rison Wildcats Football Team and their coaches for generously providing fresh watermelons for our elders. Your kindness and support mean the world to us. We proudly support and love our Wildcats.

This month, we also celebrated our very own Queen, Miss Edna Robinson, who represented Southern Hills at the District Queen Pageant in Monticello. She did a fantastic job and was glowing with happiness throughout the event. Though we didn’t take home the crown, Edna’s joy was contagious—and she celebrated in true queenly fashion with her favorite treat: Popeye’s Chicken.

And finally, a special thank you to the Why Not Extension Homemakers Club for presenting our veterans with handcrafted patriotic quilts. These exquisite gifts brought smiles and heartfelt gratitude to our veterans, reminding them that their service is honored and never forgotten.

From daily activities to special celebrations, it’s been a beautiful month at Southern Hills, filled with love, laughter, and community spirit.
